Stinger Pro Hybrid 10 Farad Capacitor Review

The first capacitor I received didn't have a charging bulb so that was probably the reason that the first one didn't work. The second one I got, the LED display didn't work but the capacitor does so this will be the last stinger product I purchase. If I bought it at a store, I would have taken it back but since I got this online, I will deal with this one as is; This is the worst part of buying products online.

Tsunami 2-Farad Capacitor (PP1002TM-CAP) (PP1002TM-CAP) Review

Ok, so if you have done your homework boys and girls, you all know there is an incredible amount of controversy about whether you even need a cap in your system at all. I'm so not going there. I bought this before I had stumbled upon all that back and forth, pro/cons crap. I knew I was installing a set of dual 12" subs, and at some point was going to upgrade the subs AND the amp (it's 600W peak power, about 290 rms). So I thought I needed one....bottom line, I get NO headlight dimming, even when cranking my dual amp system. I have a 4ch Pioneer GM-D9500F powering two sets of JL Audio C2-650 component sets. I can crank the bass, and the cap keeps the voltage supply steady. It has a cool blue digital voltage readout, along with a ring of blue leds under the connections. No, I'm not 15 and I don't have neon lights under the car (although I think that is perfectly cool if you like that and you do), but visual is important in my system. I have mine mounted on a rear seatback in my 2006 Kia Sorrento. The best thing about this cap compared to others I have seen is the connections are all protected by a plexiglass cover, which also makes the installation easier (no lugs needed) and cleaner looking. It comes with a resistor to charge before using and for discharging if need be. I bought a couple large alligator clips and made a short 2' jumper cable to connect the resistor inline from my power d block to the cap. I also installed an inline fuse and ran the 4GA cable from the cap to one of the three inputs on the block. All in all, I think you can't beat the price!

This product I installed using insructions that it came with, and started playing my radio, my voltage was still not holding very good cap was droping to 10v, the next day I went to go and eat for my b-day and that capacitor started to fry my amp, was smoke every were now my amp is blowen up and my speakers are damaged, I know how to hook up a cap did a lot of them. Now I have to find out who is going to pay for this damage to my vehicle.

Boss CAP3.5B 3.5 Farad Capacitor (Black) Review

Installation was straightforward and easy.The only con was the small terminal retaining bolt heads, they were a little small for the ring terminals on my 6 GA wire.A cap this size would typically be used with big power wire.
Just as a side note, this thing only works when the remote pwr turns the amp on.All caps don't work this way, I'm glad I read the info in the package.
The cap I replaced (a 0.5 farad) didn't use a remote pwr wire.It really helps the battery/alternator to use a big cap on a 1000 watt amp (I can remember when I didn't believe it), this one is a lot of bang for the buck.

I picked up the black one elsewhere. It was simple to charge up & install. The instructions don't tell you that it has to be hooked up to the amp in a complete circuit to charge it. Like with all caps, be sure to ground separate from the amp. ONE BIG THING!!! There aren't any covers for the terminals. You want to cover the positive terminal in the least! We are talking mega amp, stored up.
Other than that, it works like a cap should, storing power on those hard bass hits. If you're on a budget, this is cheaper than a new battery.

Alright, let me start off by saying this is the worst item I have bought off of amazon. I just got a new system for my car and needed to CAP. I received this item in the mail to find out that its broken in more then 1 way. The + (positive) end of the CAP is loose and shorting out. It drained my battery along with blowing a $6.00 100amp fuse. The reading on the top (digital) is also junk. I went to Best Buy and bought a Rockford Fostgate 1FD CAP. I love it. DO NOT BUY!

I think something needs to be explained to the other reviewers here; i think they are not familiar with how a capacitor works.

a capacitor is like a huge battery with a short memory span.when you turn your stereo on, it charges up to full voltage; power fills the capacitor every time you start your car.when you turn off your car, it still holds the charge, and will continue to do so until it is drained.this means you will have it appear as if it is still on after you shut the car off.it isn't retrieving any more power from your battery; rather, it is slowly going to drain as it cannot sustain a charge for a long period of time.

it is normal operation for it to display "on" long after the car has been shut off.it will not drain your battery this way.again, this is just how capacitors work.:)

For the under $50 i spent on this capacitor, I was expecting something that worked, but not anything spectacular. When i received it I was plesantly surprised. The capacitor arrived 25 hours after placing my order and using my free trial of 2 day shipping with amazon prime. The package included mounting hardware, the capacitor and a resistor to charge the capacitor which some cheap ones dont include. The capacitor definately cleaned up the bass notes of my system (Hifonics BXI1210D and 2 Rockford P3D412's) and eliminated a large amount of my dimming. The part I least liked about it was that the black covering was peeling off the capacitor when I opened it, but its no big deal its just plastic. I would definately recommend this product, especially for the price.

Installed easily with the limited (extremely limited) instructions.Seems to be working fine in my car and couldn't beat the price.My only complaint is the cover since it leaves the wires exposed.I shutter to think the unthinkable of positive and negative were somehow in connection with each other. I purchased another capacitor around the same time with the same features but had a nice plastic cap to shield the terminals.That would be the only suggestion I have for the manufacturer and would definitely call it out to the buyer's attention as it could be a big problem.In my case I was able to take the cover from my Rockford Fosgate capacitor that I replaced with this one and modify it to cover the terminals properly. Boss CAP2B 2 Farad Capacitor (Black) Review

I am happy with this overall. The pieces supplied are nice, but geared for very thick wire. The connections are exposed & that's pretty lame (terminals & turn on).
The instructions don't tell you that you have to have power from the amp turn on connected, before charging the cap. Minor inconvenience. Also, their wiring diagram is off. It won't turn your amp on, so you have to connect your amp turn on lead to the cap's connector. But once you have that, using the supplied (nice addition) resistor, it takes seconds for it to charge up. It has an led that flashes while it's climbing & you can read the digital display. You should be 12.1 for the average system.
It's a very beautiful unit, too bad it's going to be hidden away. The mounts that are supplied are nice. You can screw it to the vehicle or use zip ties.
I've used caps before & aside from adding a reserve of juice, they filter the current. The price is cheap enough to have 2 farads. I just wish there was a cover over those terminals, yikes! I will say that the terminals are threaded to add covers to, but they don't come with this unit. If you're looking for reserve power for your system that will supply a clean power supply, buy one of these. Will your lights flicker with out it? Depends on your amplifier. I'd rather have a reserve of clean power to go along with the system.
